Activity Update

The Activity Team have been extremely busy over the last few months arranging a variety of day trips for our residents. A specially adapted boat owned by the Kingfisher Medway Trust has enabled a number of our residents to enjoy leisurely cruises along the River Medway. Leaving from Wateringbury the boat meanders through some of the most beautiful countryside in Kent, where residents can catch sight of a variety of wildlife including Herons and Kingfishers whilst enjoying a cream tea.

Our recent trips to Burrswood have proved extremely popular particularly when the sun has been shining! The gardens at Burrswood are beautifully maintained and residents have been able to soak up some sun whilst enjoying cream teas on the patio.

A particular favourite was a day trip on the Spa Valley Steam Railway which runs for 3.5 miles from Tunbridge Wells to Groombridge. A specially adapted carriage enables residents in wheelchairs to join in the fun and with a fish and chip lunch it has proved to be a popular day out.

Many thanks to all of you who attended our Summer Fair in June where we raised £170 for the activity fund. Unfortunately due to a power cut on the day a number of our residents were unable to participate. As a result, we held a Champagne and Straweberries Party in the main lounge for those residents who missed out. Kaz who regularly sings at Cornford House provided the entertainment and great fun was had by all.

We have a number of events and activities booked over the forthcoming months including a day trip to Hever Castle, two trips to Eastbourne which will include a stroll along the prom and a fish and chip lunch on the pier. Marco the Magician will be performing for us in August and Troubadore a travelling theatrical company will be putting on a show titled “What’s in a name?”

For details of all activities and events please check the notice boards or contact Fleur who will be happy to provide you with full details by email.
