Book launch and BBQ
We had a fantastic day at Cornford House on 16th May with the launch of our Cornford House Cook Book where residents and staff contributed their favourite food recipes to create a selection of tempting “Home Country” dishes from our different homelands.
Our special guest, George McIvor, Director of Master Chefs of Great Britain created some of our favourites in a cookery demonstration, and taster sessions were available to sample and enjoy. Residents also enjoyed a delicious BBQ cooked by BBQ Ben and a selection of non-alcoholic cocktails.
Since manager Lorraine Cousins joined Cornford House last April we have been working with Master Chef George McIvor, Chairman of the Master Chefs of Great Britain, to support our own chefs to introduce new recipes and menus following feedback from our Resident Committee Members at their meetings. As a result, our residents and staff gave suggestions from their favourite recipes to create our very own cook book. In appreciation of the work carried out by George and our chefs we held a launch event inviting residents, relatives and other guest visitors to a Food Presentation and Tasting afternoon organised by George with support from two other Master Chefs. During the last year George has got to know many of our residents very well, there has been no shortage of volunteers to watch him prepare, cook and taste his delicious dishes.
Our Head Chef Anna Cuipek also celebrated her birthday on the day, so it was a double celebration! Anna has worked closely with George and Stuart on every aspect of the project since we started in April 2017 and she feels honoured to be mentored by a very special “Master Chef”.
We would like to celebrate our success by thanking everyone involved for their dedication and commitment to the project, particularly Master Chef George McIvor and Stuart Minton, Area Sales Manager, from The Full Range.
We’d also like to thank all our staff and residents involved with the project and everyone who helped us celebrate this wonderful event! We know many of our relatives who live afar would love to see the photos of the day so here’s a great selection for you to enjoy!
